According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China exported 759,000 tons of plastic products in June, down 6.98 percent month-on-month and 2.4 percent year-on-year. From January to June, China's total exports of plastic products amounted to 2.8436 million tons, up 5% year-on-year, and the growth rate fell again.
Exports of plastics grew at a slower pace, mainly because of the continued economic downturn in Europe, the slow economic recovery in the United States and weak demand for plastic products. Recently, the World Bank cut its global growth forecast for 2013 from 2.4% to 2.2%, with growth in developed countries down from 1.3% to 1.2% and growth in developing countries from 5.5% to 5.1%. Against the backdrop of the global economic downturn, the export situation of plastic products remained grim in July.
